June 2009 Martin Eppler has been elected a Guest Professor of Knowledge Communication and Visualization for January-February 2010 at the Helsinki School of Economics, Finland. He will be giving a Speech to the Danish Journalist Assocation in Copenhagen this August, see: http://www.journalistforbundet.dk/sw87494.asp. May 2009 Martin Eppler will give a speech at this year's Swiss Telecommunication Summit on the "Visual Web". You can find the program here. his views on information quality in a keynote speech at the third International
Symposium on the Cooperation and Promotion of Information Resources in
Science and Technology on November 23rd 2008 in Beijing. He is also giving
the keynote address at the 8th
annual CNO Panel on November 11th, October 2008 Alice Comi is spending two months as a visiting fellow at Cambridge University. Martin Eppler has given a knowledge visualization tutorial at the first European Visual Thinking Conference in Berlin. He is also giving a knowledge communication seminar at the Helsinki School of Economics on November 20th. September 2008 Our team has presented two papers at the I-KNOW conference (International conference on Knowledge Management, part of the Triple-I conference) in Graz, Austria. May 2008 Jeanne Mengis is the organizer and co-chair of a symposium at this year’s meeting of the Academy of Management in Anaheim, California. Very renowned scholars such as Paul Carlile (Boston University), Deborah Dougherty (Rutgers Business School), Jacky Swan (University of Warwick), Davide Nicolini (University of Warwick), Sue Newell (Bentley College), and Jennifer Whyte (University of Reading) will discuss research on the topic of ‘role of objects in innovating across boundaries’. The presenter symposium will take place Monday, Aug 11. Additional information The
German Institute for International Education Research has elected Martin
Eppler as a new member of its scientific board. In that position, he joins
seven prestigious
colleagues including Prof. Dr. Friedrich Hesse of the Knowledge Media
Institute (Univ. of Tübingen) and Prof. Dr. Jaap Scheerens of the
University of Twente (Netherlands). The institute is a member of the Leibniz
Association and is is one of the largest of its kind. It is regarded as
one of the leading European research organizations in the area of new
media and education. April 2008 The Research Foundation of the International Association of Business Communicators has just awarded Martin Eppler and Jeanne Mengis a research grant and comissioned a study on Communication Solutions Against Information Overload. This will only be the second foundation grant ever going outside of North America (after a grant awarded to the Norwegian School of Management in 2003). The study will focus, among other things, on how visual communication approaches can reduce overload in managerial communication. March 2008 Our

July 2007: first international visualization summit a success The first international visualization summit held at ETH Zurich brought together more than one hundred visualization researchers to work on current research topics in the field. Members of our team and of the University of Cambridge facilitated the strategy visualization workshop that focused on roadmapping. |
